I agree.

A lot of the push back against the Enlightenment stemmed from its treatment of the individual as simply a rational mind, rather than treating the human as a holistic, multifaceted being. Marx's project, as we saw from the USSR and China under Mao, has larger been a failure (although some say because there was never really any 'authentic' communism). Rand's anti-altruism was more of a moral ideal; I suppose we can see it somewhat in the purer capitalism but we really haven't seen a real-life, large-scale enactment of her ideas.

Nevertheless, these different ideas have helped shaped history, and given us a wealth of information to learn from, out of which we can shape the future, avoiding their flaws and keeping whatever good points they bought to the table, as we construct a better system, one perhaps more in line with our biology as well.
